After the success of bringing the
Transformers toys to the big screen, it wasn’t overly surprising that film studios would consider doing likewise with other toys. However, many were surprised that
Battleshipof all things would be picked up for a transition to film format. The result was a
little uninspiring to say the least. But,
Universal isn’t going to be deterred that easily and has decided to develop a film based on the Lego toy line of
Hero Factory robots.
The studio hopes to sign up the writers of
Predators,
Michael Finch and
Alex Litvak, to develop a story based on the Hero Factory characters. Lego released the Hero Factory toys in 2010 as a direct replacement for its
Bionicle series of toys. The characters “hail from a planet where a factory churns out robotic machines whose goal is to fight intergalactic evil.” Sounds a little bit like Transformers, but we will hold off judgement until we see more from the film. So, what toy is next?
