OMGPOP, the creator of the smash hit mobile game
Draw Something, has been acquired by
Zynga. Draw Something has taken the world by storm with over 35 million downloads since its release seven weeks ago. The deal is rumoured to be worth $210 million. Along with the popular Pictionary style title, Zynga will strengthen its portfolio with 35 other social games.

Mark Pincus, was delighted with the deal and highlighted the stand-out traits of the game. Pincus said that, “The OMGPOP team has created a game that’s fun, expressive and engenders real social interaction.” CEO of OMGPOP,
Dan Porter, was quick to reassure fans that the game would stay true to what they know and love. Porter said, “I know without a doubt that Zynga is the right partner for OMGPOP. Our new partners at Zynga know how to innovate at scale, and they’re pushing the limits of social with their mobile games.” He concluded by saying that it’s going to be “drawsome”.
OMGPOP started up in 2009, but really hit mainstream success with the recent release of Draw Something. The title has paired nostalgia and current pop culture hooks seamlessly. Draw Something is currently available on
